Lloyd Geering is being awarded NZ’s highest honour, the Order of New Zealand.
Clearly a move designed to get at Helen’s detractors.
Geering isn’t a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s a wolf who walks into the sheep pen and claims that his fur is wool. He then starts savaging his sheep, trying to run them out of the pen, then jumps out of the pen and tries to push those who have left back in.

so what you’re saying is, instead of actually attacking his ideas and critiquing them rationally you just make up some parable with no substance about him

I think that’s a good summary of what he did, and continues to do.
Even a cursory examination of his ideas show they are well outside what has always been considered christanity.

The Saturday night documentary “The Last Western Heretic” was brilliant. Geering talks a lot of sense – sense much needed in today’s world.

I saw some of the documentary – enough to know that Geering was talking complete nonsense.
But good to know he appealed to his own group – atheists.
