LA Times Obsessed with Paris

Patterico points out the extent of the LA Time’s obsession with Paris Hilton. Check out all these stories:
Meanwhile, a murdered 17 year old gets almost no coverage:
Where are the trucks, Mr. Martin? I’ll tell you. They’re downtown, covering Paris Hilton. Meanwhile, you were certainly naive to assume that Quanisha Pitts would merit any space at all in the vaunted print edition:
The story was about 17-year-old Quanisha Pitts, who was killed down the block from where Martin lives. In fact, the write-up didn’t appear in the Los Angeles Times print edition, but rather on this web page. But even here, the space was short, and Martin is quite correct in noting that many homicides covered by The Times are afforded only briefs of a few lines buried within the California section, or the scantest mention on the lists published here.
In another post, details of Paris’ treatment are detailed. By today’s standards, this is torture of the worst kind.
Meanwhile, however, I may have underestimated the trauma Ms. Hilton suffered, as evidenced by this quote from when she was back at home:
[O]nce back at her luxury home, Paris celebrated by inviting her family round.
A pal said she had sent her assistant shopping and arranged for her make-up artist to visit.
The pal said: “It’s so cruel what has happened to her. She wasn’t allowed to wax or use a moisturiser. Her skin is so dry right now.”

“She wasn’t allowed to wax or use a moisturiser.” Spoilt little rich girls out there: when you commit a crime, you go to prison (usually). Because you were bad, you only get the basics in prison (and sometimes, not even the basics). When you come out of prison, you live differently so as to avoid going back into prison. Have I put it simply enough?
Surely her (Paris’s) pal, heiress Casey Johnson, sneaked some moisturiser in, though?
