Here’s a case of media bias that’ll get you going.
The entire US MSM (with one exception) is reporting Ann Culter as saying:
If I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.
Now, that does sound bad. However, in context, Culter was actually pointing out some of her previous (joking) comments have been blown out of proportion, and much more outragous (and quite serious) comments from left wing commentators have been ignored. The above quote is simply Ann saying she might as well match them - she’ll get the same response.
Coulter: “Oh, yeah. Yeah. I wouldn’t, I wouldn’t insult gays by comparing them to John Edwards. That would be mean. But about the same time, you know, Bill Maher was not joking and saying he wished Dick Cheney had been killed in a terrorist attack. So, I’ve learned my lesson. If I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”
Cuomo: “So let’s get off of you, but let’s get your view on what’s going on with the party right now. You hear what the speculation is, you know what the poll numbers are.”
[GMA clip ends]
Scarborough: “All right. So, actually– You know, go ahead ad cut that. Actually, Ann, we could have just shown three seconds before the quote in question, where, where three seconds before the quote that has been yanked out by the AP and everybody else, you bring up Bill Maher and the fact when I was on with Bill Maher, Bill Maher suggested that if Dick Cheney had be killed in an al Qaeda terror attack, the world would be a better place.”
The sad thing is, ultimately this sort of thing does not help the left.
Why?
Well, next time one of them meets one of us and pulls out this quote he’s going to run away with his tail between his legs. That’s called undermining your own sides’ advantage.
Honest people on the left then start with distortions like this and start to question what they’ve been told. They seek answers outside their discredited sources, and eventually find that their entire political philosophy is based on distortions, half-truths, piled on false summaries with a healthy dose of conspiracy theories thrown in to fill in the gaps. Those honest people then turn to the right and find, after all the left’s lies are stripped away, nice, genuine, caring, honest people.
And that’s how a conservative is born.
Of course, the other alternative when presented with facts is to throw out your toys.
