Radio New Zealand Twists Story

Radio New Zealand again…
An organisation representing private schools says the new curriculum allows some taxpayer-funded schools to teach a radical and fundamentalist view of the world.Independent Schools of New Zealand says it is unfair that state integrated schools are being given much more leeway in what they can teach, yet still get more than 90% of their funding from the state.
…She says under the new curriculum, an integrated school could teach a particular perspective, such as a Biblical world view, through every class.
…
Private schools are allowed to teach what they like (with limits), but they get no state funding.
Integrated schools are allowed to modify the state curriculum (within limits) and they get state funding.
The story is about funding, but the way Radio NZ has written (and broadcast) it, it’s an opportunity to bash Christians as dangerous fundamentalists who have a distorted view of the world.
Never mind that the private schools are able to be more “fundamentalist”.
