What should Labour Do?

DPF posted today on the 9 to Noon politics slot earlier yesterday.
Which reminded me of something that Laila Harre said.
She said that if Labour were to win back the public, they must “take the risk of creating some points of difference with National”.
That’s a good idea, here’s a list of my own suggestions.
- Steal money for your election campaign
- Drop any policy that makes you unpopular, when it starts affecting your poll numbers
- Steal money for your election campaign
- But drive any policy that makes radical social change through with an iron fist - even if it was introduced by another party, even if Helen has said that said policy would “be against human nature”.
- Don’t make serious efforts to change your front bench, and make sure all new candidates are from the PMs staff.
- EFA - that was a real point of difference. Maybe you could find something else that would suppress free speech?
- And when the public turn out in their thousands to protest and sign petitions, tell them they are abusive parents, anti-democratic, imply they are idiots…
- Don’t as PM attend any dawn services - National do that all the time on Waitangi day and Anzac day. Get the minister to say you’re not a morning person so they forget about the one time you did go and were asked to pray.
- Be inconsistent. When you have, say, an anti-violence campaign make sure that violence by your ministers is brushed under the carpet.
- Only fire corrupt MPs when they try to leave the party, and only after spending months of brushing the whole thing under the carpet. Remember, National took immediate decisive action so don’t be like that.
- Don’t cut taxes.
Yep, that should take care of the popularity of the Labour party.
