It’s all the media’s fault

Helen takes one from Winston’s book.
Speaking on Newstalk ZB, Helen Clark said the recording from the closed policy session may not have been a Labour leak but could have been a media recording.
“Firstly, this was a closed session and normally journalists respect that. Clearly someone didn’t, there was a tape running. Secondly knowing that there was that tape was Mr Williams set up on the interview?”
Helen Clark said the tape was “pretty good quality” which cast doubt on it being someone in the audience.
She said it did not excuse Mr Williams but she questioned TVNZ’s ethics.
They say that once you live with a person for a long time you start to look like them. I guess once you’ve been in coalition with Winston, you start employing his tactics when on the back foot.
However, only Labour would question someone else’s ethics when excusing someone who told the truth to Helen then told the media the opposite, then claimed they forgot.
You don’t forget telling Helen you screwed up. Williams went out and lied deliberately and calculatingly, assuming that no one could prove him wrong, knowing that Helen would not come out with the truth.
Disgusting.
