Congratulations must go to Obama, for becoming the first American-American president.
When he announced he would run, I felt bad for him because I was sure that he would be blowing his chance. In hindsight, I was wrong – this was his only chance to make it, and he ran an admirable campaign, one that could teach even Rove a few lessons.
But I have a sinking feeling this morning, much like the markets. Obama has always been about talking well, but there is little evidence that he has anything even close to the experience necessary to run the worlds most powerful nation at this most critical time.
I see that Bush was once again abused in public in front of his children – even on the day he leaves office. Strangely, I have heard of no protesters protesting the results of this democratic election. Could it be that the right can actually take defeat graciously?
Obama tells us that Hope will replace Fear. Nice, using a left-wing attack line in a speech claiming to open a new era of bi-partisanship.
But Republicans acted on the dangers they saw. (And with Democratic approval more often than not.)
My fear is that Obama will not get past “hope”.
