Part of me likes Obama. Really. I’m very happy that American Americans have a president that makes them feel happy.
But when I see him approaching foreign relations like a naive fool, thinking that if he is just a nice guy everything will be fine, I start to worry.
A day earlier, Iran’s president, responding to an overture by the new US president, said the US should apologise for its past “crimes” against Iran.
This was the first official response to Barack Obama’s offer to extend a hand if Iran “unclenched its fist”.
Clearly, Iran has no interest in shaking hands. Seems they’re more interested in getting Barack to kneal down and beg.
Then when I see North Korea taking advantage of the situation…
Communist North Korea has said it is scrapping all military and political agreements signed with the South, accusing Seoul of hostile intent.
The South’s government had pushed relations “to the brink of a war”, the North’s cross-border relations body said on state media.
I try to stop myself thinking just how quickly this is all going to go pear shaped. Part of me wonders how Obama can last to the end of next week, let alone another 4 years.
“Rocky” doesn’t even begin to describe what we’re in for.
