That’s the headline on this article.

You’d think that means sending bits and bytes around the world mysteriously requires the death of baby seals. As if Whale Oil needed more encouragement!

In fact, the article simply talks about how the internet makes it easier to market certain items. I see no mention of the flip side – that the internet means that any Tom, Dick or Harry can sit at their computer and expose such activities and build public opposition.

Then there’s the fact that having a market for rare animals is one of the best ways of saving them, but that’s another post entirely.
