How to tell a fake

So a completely unknown 25 year old singer gets years of music stolen, and it makes the news. But here’s the bit which sealed the deal for me.

The laptop had been the only item stolen after the thief used a brick to smash a back window, he said.

Police had come to take fingerprints but instead found traces of fabric, suggesting the burglar used gloves, he said.

Since when do the police attend burglaries, let alone burglaries when a single item was stolen? The guy used a brick to break the glass, so where did the traces of fabric come from?

I do tip my hat to the guy thought. It’s publicity you simply can’t buy.
