The same thought has occurred to me - the Green Party list isn’t exactly a shining lineup of productive citizenry is it?
Of the six top new Green Party candidates, what does it say that two of them are listed as professional campaigners, and two are listed as resource management consultants?

Save the Humans points out a dozy in a recent Sue Bradford speech.
At the same time we’ve got peak oil – the point where half the oil in the world has been extracted and global maximum oil production is reached. This is not the end of oil, but it is the end of cheap oil, [...]

Heh, some increasingly rare humor from the left.
Well, 3.9% is fairly depressing. It seems the Greens have lost/misplaced half a percent to either the Kiwi Party or Act (up 0.4% and 0.7% respectively). Oops. Expect to see Metiria introduce our Abolition of All Swearwords and Taxes Bill to the house next week.
If only!
This analysis is [...]

The Greens just don’t care about understanding international markets.
National Radio had an item on the rising price of bread this morning. Much of the reason given was droughts in Australia and overseas use of crop land for biofuels. Now, bread should be something that we are able to supply relatively easily. After all it’s mostly [...]

It was interesting to hear at the protest yesterday that the Greens were split down the middle on the EFA.
Interesting that the parliamentary wing came down on the less principled side. I guess Rod Donald might have changed that. Never mind…
I guess that’s why the Greens are now just trying for celebrity endorsements, it would [...]

Proof if ever it was needed that a stopped clock is right at least twice a day.
“I hope all MPs with an interest in the impacts of gambling on society - and on Government and politicians - will come to the launch, and read the book.
“The reliance of community organisations, local government, some politicians and [...]

I always gape in wonder every time the left open their mouths of monopolies. Here they praise the ability of the open market to provide choice.
Today and tomorrow many thousands of New Zealanders will be visiting their local farmers markets around the country, neatly skirting around New Zealand’s supermarket duopoly, and trading directly with [...]

Why is it…
National and Labour have already signalled that they want to make tax cuts a big part of this year’s elections. And, as we know, more tax cuts mean less money to spend (or save),
…that people can be so wilfully ignorant?
We on the right do not support tax cuts in spite of the “fact” [...]

Over at Frogblog:
The Greens have been saying for a long time that equity, culture and community are more important values than economic growth. Simply growing everyone’s income doesn’t work if large numbers of people feel they have a less equal share, even if they have more TVs and fridge magnets than they used to have.
The [...]

David is getting a bit ticked off at the crazy left.
The Greens’ frog is having a rush of blood to his or her head.
Not only does it hysterically over-react to a call for the Iranian nuclear threat to be confronted, they breathlessly demand to know whether John Key will send troops to Iran.
…
Even putting aside [...]

Below is a picture of a cycle track, apparently taken by Russel Norman, Green party co-leader.
Here’s what he says about it.
But the bike track is really bad - it’s rough as guts, has lots of glass on it, is covered in loose gravel in various places. At some points it’s hard to figure out where [...]

You’ve got to wonder what the Greens would support “with the hope of improving later“…
(The following is satire, for those on the left)
The Green Party has called for the whole issue of sending the population of the country into slavery to be sent to a “Citizens’ Assembly” based on a North Korean model so ordinary [...]

Rod Donald died 2 years ago, putting to bed the idea that the voters choose their MPs. (It turns out that God has a veto!)
Anyway, the Greens are pleased they survived.
Green MP Keith Locke said Mr Donald would have been proud that the party had not collapsed when he died.
Some had predicted the Greens would [...]

Cactus Kate Writes:
“The claim by Federated Farmers that farmers shouldn’t have to pay a resource rental for using water because they already pay for their irrigation equipment and infrastructure is like saying that motorists shouldn’t pay for petrol because they already have to pay for their cars and for roads,” he said.
Thing is, this is [...]

Yes, that’s what Jeanette wants. Yesterday as part of her “I can’t say anything, but here’s what I have to say” interview, Jeanett Fitzsimons actually suggested that we put more public transport in places like Oamaru*.
Think about that. You can walk the length of that town in 1 hour. I recently waited for a bus [...]

On 9 to Noon this morning, Jeanette Fitzsimons said “Income is not the main indicator of poverty”. Fair enough.
Then, a short time later she said “We need to solve poverty by raising income”.
So now I’m confused.
Anyways, Radio NZ still have their quote on their top news story, “Money to help pay power bills not [...]

The Herald takes on the “country of origin” fuss started by the Greens in today’s editorial.
Campaigners such as Ms Kedgley, generally to be found in parties that profess sympathy for the poor, are not much concerned at the consequences for developing countries because they believe trade is exploitative in any case, and environmentally damaging.
They are [...]

Seems that the green stuff is actually worse than bog standard tobacco.
The research, published in the journal Thorax, found cannabis damaged the large airways in the lungs causing symptoms such as coughing and wheezing.
It also damaged the ability of the lungs to get oxygen to, and remove waste products from tissues.
Experts [...]
