I suspect the real reason everyone is so up in arms about them more that they don’t want the coal burnt.
The real reason they don’t want the coal burnt is they are fixated on the old image of coal fired factories belching smoke – an image that is no longer valid.
I remember hearing someone from the Green party complaining that coal, no matter what was done with it, was still a “19th century technology, no matter what 20th century technology is applied to it will still be a 19th century technology”.
If we’re not going to use stuff that was invented in the 19th century, but was made usable by 20th century developments, I suggest you stop what you are doing – computers fall into the exact same category.
