I was amazed and aghast once when someone said to me that only the Republicans had really rich people backing them. He hadn’t heard of George Soros.
Then there is the mystery of who tried to buy off the Maori party to go with Labour. Seems like a good idea, until you figure where Tariana Turia came from.
Funny how so many parties have spun off Labour through the years… Maybe their brand of politics is less stable? Perhaps.
