No Gerrymandering In NZ – Why Would You?

No Right Turn () tries to convince us that gerrymandering of electorate boundaries might exist in this country. He points out that National and Labour have exclusive seats on the commission.

What he forgets is that physical electorates don’t matter two hoots under MMP. It’s the party vote that decides on the makeup of Parliament. In fact, electorate seats are beginning to go out of fashion – parties don’t actually want them as they tie down their MPs.

Good one.
