There They Crucified Him

When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[e] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

Luke 23:33 & 34.

Crucifixion was not a pleasant death. Each breath had to be fought for, by pulling up against the nails in the victims hands and feet. Those crucified died from asphyxiation, but only after many hours.

God sacrificed his son so that we could live forever in paradise. All you must do is ask for his forgiveness, and you can gain something worth more any human being can imagine.

Going to church, stealing cars, not swearing, murdering, running Whale Oil’s blog; none of these things make the slightest difference to whether or not you enter heaven.

What matters is accepting Christ.

  1. Well said scrubone – Mrs Inventory frequently manages to squeeze this one into her preaching – “Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any7 more than going to McDonalds makes you a hamburger”. It’s a pretty simple equation – what counts is faith alone in Christ alone. Blessings to you and yours brother!
