The Standard (!) have conceded that Key won the debate.

I guess that’s official, a clear win.

A forum where he could repeat his tired slogans to his heart’s content suited him. No-one could pull him up on his lies, except Clark who, inexplicably, failed to do so. And when Clark spoke, Key just yelled his lines over the top of her.

It was a debate. Key talked over Clark just as many times as Clark talked over Key. But when you’re loosing you do tend to see the other guy as cheating.

That might come back to bite him though. Key didn’t want to repeat Brash’s mistake of appearing to treat Clark softly because she is female. Instead, he let out the nasty side in him, yelling, talking over the top. He seemed disrespectful.

He seemed disrespectful! This from the blog that devotes about 80% of it’s content to trashing the guy.

Update: Steve Pierson comments that it’s 64%

  2. Tell the rest of the post,”Clark was, as ever, on top of all the issues raised but failed to expose the lies and emptiness of what Key, whereas he had an attack, however dishonest, for everything she said.”

And the one before it that proves his figures and stats were all BS

There’s always whining that the standard posts only bits and pieces to put their leftist veiws across but thats exactly whats happening here.

Plus if the guy were as squeaky clean as I believe that you’d like us to think then he would answer questions being directed at him and not smile while hes lying.

    The guys a snake

  3. Clark was spinning madder than a top too, Alkdnut.

How logical is it to say we need tried and tested Labour to manage the current world-wide financial crisis, when the books were done prior to the meltdown to reveal 10 years of deficits and doubling of unemployment? That’s bad financial management. In a period of world-wide good times, we slipped on the OECD rankings.

Also, her stab at Key being too new compared to Helen, and her cabinet of long time career politicians…and then to complain that Key’s cabinet would be filled with….long time career politicians. Ooh err.

Mostly though, did anyone notice that Helen Clark wants to introduce “testing” and evaluation of children prior to starting school to see if they are emotionally adjusted or not? And she had the gall to complain about John Key wanting to test for literacy.

I can see a new level of Cindy Kiro’s master plan of profiling every child according to the anti-family leftist “are they on Ritalin yet” management of “problem” children.

  4. The Standard admitted Key won, before launching into him.

Had Clark come close to winning, they would have declared her the winner, before launching into Key.

That’s the difference, and that’s what I quoted. Everyone knows how this works, and The Standard knew full well what they were posting as we all do when we make such admissions.

Frankly I’ve read the previous post you refer to and it’s safe to say that there may be some points, but most of it is just Labour supporters being silly.
